SUMO

 

１年に１度、靖国神社で神々への奉納相撲が行われる。

昨年5月に、その 奉納相撲を見たのが、生で相撲を見た最初だった。

 

本物の相撲を見たとき、不思議だった。

無言で無表情で人間ではないように思われた。

そして、裸体の力士が戦う姿は神聖であり、神秘的であった。

 

Once a year in spring, a special sumo match dedicated to God is held in the Yasukuni Shrine.

Last year's match was the first time I'd seen a sumo much directly.

 

When I saw the match, I felt strange.  

The sumo wrestlers fought in silence and never smiled.  

They seemed to be not human beings, but rather sacraments.
