ISANA 勇魚 

 

私の住んでる房総半島では昔から捕鯨が行われている。

捕鯨は、かつて、勇魚取りと呼ばれ、大規模な組織で行われる命をかけた戦いであった。人々への多大な恵みをもたらす鯨は畏敬の念をもって扱われた.捕獲された鯨は余すところなく利用され、その後、丁寧に供養された。

今も鯨を祀る鯨塚が残り、年に一度、鯨祭りが行われ、鯨歌が歌われる。

しかし、捕鯨を取り巻く状況は年々厳しくなってきており、規模は縮小されている。

近い将来、房総半島で昔から行われてきた捕鯨も、終わるときが来るかもしれない。

I am living in the Boso Peninsula.  In the Peninsula,  whaling has long been carried out.

Whaling, once called "Isanatori", was a life-threatening battle held in a large organization. Whales that brought great grace to the people were treated with awe. 

All of the parts of whale were used and after that the whale was politely served. 

There are many whale mounds remains in the town, and once a year the whale festival is held and the local people sing a whale song. However, the situation surrounding whaling has become more severe year by year, and the whaling scale has been reduced. 

In the near future, the whaling that has been carried out in the Boso Peninsula for a long time may come to an end.
